About the session
Veterinary medicine has seen remarkable changes in recent years. From a global pandemic and workforce challenges to new clinical advancements and digitalization, the industry has experienced significant shifts.
Once considered a profession relatively resistant to change, veterinary care is now embracing innovation at an impressive pace. Telemedicine, previously viewed as outlandish, has become a standard offering in many clinics across the country. Various technologies and tools — including cloud software, mobile apps, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, 3D printing, and wearable devices — are reshaping clinic operations and improving patient care.
This session explores emerging technologies and their implications for veterinary professionals and practice leaders. Participants will gain insights into key AI products and trends, understand the potential of clinic-at-home devices like smart cameras and wearables, discover new tools for practice management and client communication, and learn actionable strategies for adopting these innovations to enhance their practice.
While we’re still exploring the full potential of these technologies, it’s evident that their judicious and efficient integration has the power to redefine the landscape of veterinary services, transforming the way veterinary care is delivered and experienced.

Aaron Massecar, PhD, MBA
Aaron Massecar, MA, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of the Veterinary Innovation Council. After completing his Ph.D. in philosophy at the University of Guelph in 2011 and then teaching for 5 years, Dr. Massecar transitioned to veterinary medicine where he believed he could have a greater impact than what could be done in academic philosophy. His first work in veterinary medicine was with Texas A&M where he helped to build the Veterinary Entrepreneurship Academy and the Veterinary Innovation Summit. A couple of senior executive positions with Colorado State University’s Translational Medicine Institute and the Veterinary Emergency Group, Dr. Massecar is now back at the Veterinary Innovation Council and helping to drive awareness across the industry in domains such as innovation, entrepreneurship, and artificial intelligence. Aaron and his wife live in Colorado with their three dogs and two cats.
